As MED-X is accredited to the Discovery Vitality program through the
Resuscitation Council 2500 points would be awarded to any member who has
completed an accredited CPR course through MED-X. MED-X personnel will take care
of this registration process on your behalf on completion of the course.
In order for a member to claim their points themselves, members may fax or email
Vitality the certificate or receipt and their Discovery membership number to 011
539 7347 or claimvitalitypoints@discovery.co.za as soon as they have completed
the CPR course.

All our courses are run
in
accordance with the standards and guidelines of the Resuscitation Council of
Southern Africa and American Heart Association.
Courses are run during the week, week-ends and
also after hours. There is however, a minimum requirement of 6 participants per
course!
The courses
attended by medical staff, teachers, personal trainers, au pairs etc. are
classified as career orientated/educational courses as they are generally a job requirement.
The courses
attended by parents, childminders etc. are classified as an educational/skills
courses as they are doing them out of interest or to further equip themselves to
deal with families, loved-ones.

Family and Friends CPR Course for the general
public: 4 Hours
Family and Friends CPR Course for Domestics: 4 Hours
BLS CPR Course for medical
staff: 6 Hours
Heartsaver
First Aid Course for the general public: 4 Hours
Heartsaver CPR Course with AED
training for personal trainers, coaches, para-medical staff: 4 Hours
Level
1 First Aid Course for the general public or medical staff:
20 Hours/3 days
Reasons to consider these courses:

It makes the applicant more ‘sellable’ when applying for positions involving
children.

It is self empowering, enabling parents to deal with childhood in a calmer,
more effective manner.

Anyone dealing with the general public should be able to assist in an
emergency: Beauty & Massage therapist, General Practitioners, Homeopaths
and Para-medical staff,
Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Pharmacists, Care givers in
hospitals/rehabilitation/old age homes/homes, Au Pairs, Personal Trainers,
Waitresses, Child Minders, Sport Coaches/Trainers, Teachers ... the list is endless.

It is a requirement by South African Law, that there are a certain number of trained
people within the workplace to deal with emergencies.

Anyone with a medical condition as well as the associated family, friends,
colleagues should know how to deal with the specific condition should there
be an emergency e.g.: Heart conditions, high blood pressure, diabetics,
epileptics, life threatening allergies.

We offer personalized tuition in accordance
with the standards and guidelines of the Resuscitation Council of Southern
Africa and American Heart Association.
When booking any of the CPR Courses, please note:

An instructor will come out
to you/to a venue of your choosing at a mutually convenient time to
present the course for a min. of 6 participants.

Alternatively, should you be
unable to organise a class of 6 people you are more than welcome to join in
with a class already booked. Please ask for dates and times, should this be
the case, so we can try accommodate you as best as possible.

In the event, however, that you still would like an instructor to come out
to you/your group personally for a class of less than 6 participants, you
will still be charged the minimum rate, which is for 6 people.

Please note: A travel fee of R2.00
per/km for the total distance will be charged if your venue is more than
40km from our offices in Ferndale, Randburg. (i.e: a 50km one way trip/or
100km round trip = R200 travel charge.)

‘Family and Friends’ Courses
generally run on week-days (Mon.-Fri.) as well as Saturday’s for those
unable to take time off work, from 09:00-13:00 or 13:00-17:00.

The ‘Family and Friends’
course does also include some basic first aid and we do advise and/or supply
‘Child First Aid Bags’ and Burns Kits should anyone be
interested.

Due
to last minute cancellations, we now require a R600 non-refundable
deposit per class to confirm your booking. The bookings work on a
‘first come, first serve’ basis.
